I’m Thomas Brasington, a Experience Design Director working at 66ºNorth — an Icelandic outerwear company, protecting people from the elements since 1926.
I specialise in brand and product strategies, bringing them together to create engaging and delightful customer experiences.
Where I come from
I have been designing and building digital products for over a decade. Over that time I have been able to pair a design thinking process with traditional graphic design to create unique branded product experiences.
I led and managed mid to large teams at Burberry, NET-A-PORTER and Mr Porter between 2010 - 2019 and going even further back I freelanced for various fashion, lifestyle and art institutions between 2006 - 2010
My time at Burberry I was part of a team that led the transformation of their digital products, establishing a design system with a focus on the mobile e-commerce experience — with a bit of dabbling in physical x digital experiences.
While at NET-A-PORTER and Mr Porter I was a Principal Designer leading the Experience Team in the creation of a design system for web, iOS and Android and migrating to a new e-commerce platform.
I take abstract ideas and complex problems and turn those into tangible products. I have developed a broad set of skills from the design profession that let me tackle problems with a holistic approach from strategy to design execution.
I am a firm believer in research, storytelling, co-creation and building fully functioning prototypes to sell ideas. These methods take an idea from the ethereal into a product that can be operationalised with a team.
This involves synthesising and articulating what their brand is about and taking that into the form of written brand purpose, proposition, principles and positioning. These become the foundation for creating appropriate frameworks and executions for writing, imagery, visuals, motions, spacial and whatever else a project may need.
